Ruggles-Troy Volunteer Fire Deparment and Firelands Ambulance Service

The Ruggles-Troy Volunteer Fire Department is a volunteer fire department consisting of members who live within the Ruggles and Troy Townships. The Department holds their trainings on the third Monday evening of each month and their department meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at the Fire Station, which is located in Nova. Volunteers are needed and welcome. Please contact our Fire Chief, Eric Bohland at (419) 295-0925 for more information.

The Ruggles-Troy Volunteer Fire Department and Co-Ed Auxiliary are very active in our community and they sponsor several community events throughout the year, including a pancake breakfast and the 'ever popular' annual Chicken BBQ, which is held on a Saturday in September.

Firelands Ambulance Service is our Emergency Medical Service (EMS) who responds to any health-related emergencies. For more information, please visit their web site: http://www.newlondonohio.com/fas/

If you have an emergency, or need fire/ambulance service, please call 9-1-1.

The Green reflective house number signs are used by the Fire Department and EMS to identify your house in an emergency, and are usually installed below your mailbox or newspaper box. In the event that there is not one at your residence, please contact the Fire Department to request one.

The Fire Station has a Weather Siren above it to alert Troy Township residents of bad weather. The Weather Siren is tested on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 AM. An actual warning will be a continuous sounding of the siren for three minutes. Upon hearing an actual warning, please turn on your weather radio to determine the reason for the warning and take appropriate action. Most weather warnings warrant taking cover in a tornado-type protection. This type of protection is generally in the basement or in a small, completely enclosed interior room such as a closet or bathroom. In any case, stay away from windows until the severe weather passes.
